Today let me share with u a beautiful emotional experience…Ups and downs r common in Every human’s life..like wise 4 yrs back…when My family was going thru very bad phase…I ran here and there for Solution… (And I knew it cant be solved by any human.)..Still…I knocked… every door…… Running Helter & Skelter…
I was guided by my Guru and well wishers to take refuge in the lotus feet of Narasimha Swamy…Though my Native is the state where Narasimha Avatara took place and every house hold’s Kula Devatha is by default Narasimha…(of course now lot of Conversions) I was attracted towards Rama Avathara…I was not much in comfort zone with Narasimha Avatara being Ugra Avathara I was..struck,where to start, how to worship him…there I stumbled upon a website (even I forgot its address)…which spoke abt worshipping Narasimha thru a stotra called ” Mantra Raja Padha Stotra’….it is spoken/composed by Sri Maha Deva/Shiva..🙏
There were more than 1000 comments on the site…When I saw innumerable comments..I emotionally left a comment to the author.. “.That I was looking for Narasimha’s grace, because humans cant solve my difficulty..and requested for reply”…within few minutes…I was replied to give my contact number’…
And a Lady called….From a different country…I even dont know her real name….except her pen name is “Priya’. She is a God sent messenger to me..She patiently listened to me…She said ‘Nothing in this world is impossible for people who trust Narasimha..he is ocean of mercy..pl chant ‘Mantra Raja Padha Stotra’ with full trust and surrender to him unconditionally..All ur problems will be solved…believe me…. Further to boost with more confidence..she shared with me her experience…
Their family are Narasimha bakthas (they are smarthas and followers of Maha Periyava)…Whole family her husband and son recite Mantra Raja Padha daily.. with Bhakthi Once they visited Badrinath ..A Divya Desam Temple, situated in Uthrakand.. when (their son, who was 5 yrs old kid)…They stayed there in the night in a room/place which had only basic facilities….(even today not much medical faclities are available) and It was raining heavily…at night..the child was down with fever……at midnight he started running high temperature…and was going worse..They had no other option than, just praying to Narasimha Bhagvan…. Nothing could be done, as it looked like Child was loosing consciousness….(imagine the plight of the mother) she was just chanting Mantra Rajam…..She surprisingly heard a voice..no form was visible…Ot said…..’U r constantly calling Narasimha…But Its me, who have come to ur help…Will u accept me as Parabramham ? In few seconds u r child be normal and healthy…. When She said this to me….
Tears were rolling from my eyes…What would have an ordinary human being like me have done at this moment?….but what Priya replied. was ….”I cannot accept anyone except my Narasimha as Parabramham”….Either he protects my child or not…it is his Sankalpam….My Dheivam… Parabramham for every one is Narasimha only’…..
If I had to summarize her emotion in that moment…It would be…. Swamy Narasimha, Sakalam Narasimah….. Narasimha Devath Paro Na Kaschit…. meaning…
“My Lord & My Everything is Narasimha”…… Narasimha is the only Lord None Other”….
She continued… It was fully silent, She couldn’t hear any voice….Slowly the child ‘s temperature came down, by morning he was normal…Thus She re-called her experience and said. ….”Amma dont loose heart, he is our only refuge…pl start to recite this stotra..All will be normal soon”…
She further asked me abt my Aacharya Sammandham ….and said “Why to worry when u are blessed as a sishya to the “Padhuka of Yathiraja”…. I cant forget how much solace she gave me….Even if bow to her for 100 times, will I get that Druda Viswasam…that she had on Narasimhan…?…
What a human needs is..when the are down with problems are some encouraging words of solace & comfort….and with divine blessing…..rest will follow..Because at times..these words of moral support will pour life to our pained hearts.
From then on…till this moment…”Mantra Raja Padha Stotra is my Everything”..My whole family recites it……but it has to Be followed by some norms…🙏
Now abt the stotra:-
Lord Shiva is said to be the ruler of Navagrahas, and the same Parameshwara had done a stotra called Mantra Raja Padha Stotra.
Eeshwara Surrendering to Narasimha and composed the great stotra called “Mantra Raja Padha” Stotra.
Among the many mantrams associated with Sri Nrusimhan , the One revered as “Mantra Raajan” is the most powerful one. It was created by the Sri Rudran/Sankaran/Parameshwar and is housed in Ishvara samhitai as Mantra Raaja pada stotram. It is called Rajam meaning King among Mantras, hence Mantra Raja Padham.
This mantram is also known as Sri NrusimhAnushtup Mantram and is set in anushtup meter, which always has 32 aksharams. Lord Shiva who is omniscient has assembled these 32 aksharams in to 12 padams and housed each padam into a slOkam and presented it as a stOtram to Lord Narasimhan…
Not that my problems have solved, but Now I have got a strong belief..that my Narasimha is always with me…I am always under his ‘Rakshai/Divine Protection…

The Vedas are the very breath of the Supreme Brahman and their import has reached posterity through the revelations experienced by sages and rishis . Time and again, the Lord assumes the form of preceptors to propagate this Vedic tradition which is also known as Sanatana Dharma.
Swamy Ramanuja Lived during the period where society was occupied by Pashandas Charvakas, bouddhas, Jains and Mayavadhis. These Philosophies are “Nasthikavadhis” means those who don’t accept Vedas as authoritative and some were also to give wrong interpretation to Vedas” Dhaati Panchakam” answers the above question gracefully…
In Thondanoor of Mandya District, Mysore some 1000 years.ago During the Period when Swami Ramanuja left Sri Rangam and migrated to Mysore……………Around 12,000 Jainis came for an argument with Swami Ramanuja. He got a curtain drawn before him, took his real form of a thousand-headed serpent (Adisesha) and answered all their questions simultaneously with his 1000 hoods to prove that Vishistadvaitam Siddantham and the concept of Thatva Thryam (Sriman Narayana is the Paramathma, Chit and Achit are his sesha boothas./ subservient)

After witnessing this, miracle, Swami Mudaliandan rendered Dhaati Panchakam in praise of Ramanuja’s victory over other philosophies. Even today we can see ‘Dhaati Panchakam’ sloka carved on a stone at Padmavathi temple in Sravanabelahola of Mandya District, Mysore Region.
Dhaati Panchakam (which was rendered by Sri Mudaliandan at Thondanur Ref Nambi Koil Nithyanusandhanam] has been celebrated by our poorvacharyas and has been included as part of Srivaishnava Nithyanusandhanam. Mudaliyandan was the dearest nephew and foremost of Ramanuja’s sishyas.The Thaniyan (a vandanam) or an invocatory verse which is first recited before the Stotra..Speaks about the Greatness of its Author.
I offer Vandanam to Swamy Dasarathi /Mudaliyandan.who composed the glorious work of 5 Stotras called ‘Dhaati Panchakam’ on Benevolent Aacharya Swami Ramanuja at Bhaktha Nagar (Thondanoor) Dhaati means “Attack’ Panchakam means 5 Shlokas..As the name shows it is made of five stotras. The word Dhaati means “attacking” – as this work shows the attack that Ramanuja carried over the other philosophies that were widespread at that time, it is an appropriate name for it..
Essence of Dhaati Panchakam which speaks aloud..How Ramanuja won over these Shunya Mathas thru his Sri Sukthis. Ramanuja removed the Pashandas completely – like a wild forest fire going through a forest. Ramanuja fell like a “ThunderBolt ” /Vajrayudham .. (Here Swami’s Thridhandam is compared to Vajradhandam) on Charvakas Mountains…….
Ramanuja rose like a “Sun” (Ramanuja Divakarha) to dispel the darkness called Baudha Philosophy Ramanuja was like the Garuda whose very shadow was sufficient to destroy the serpents called “Mayavadhis” (who state that everything is false or an illusion)
Ramanuja thus established the victory flag of Srivaishnava Sampradhayam in that most divine of places – Srirangam. Ramanuja is praised as “Srirangesha Jayadvaja” means the Victory Flag of Sri Ranganatha. Pashandas were like a great ocean. It was during the time that they were active that Swami Ramanuja appeared like the Badaba fire. (Badaba is the name of a female horse. Puranas mention that there is a female horse in the middle of the ocean; that it has a fire on its face that never goes out; it is this fire that absorbs the excess water coming into the ocean and prevents it from breaching its shores; and that during the pralays it is this fire that comes out and destroys the worlds)
Ramanuja controlled the ocean of pashandas like the Badaba fire. He exhibits the quality of fire to both create and destroy – he sheds light on the right path to the devotees while he also acts like a wildfire in destroying the other sampradhayams.Thus, Ramanuja also showed the path to liberation Shri Vishnu Loka Mani Mandapa Margadayee. Dhaati Panchakam is recited during Avathsra Dhina Utsavams in Sri Perumbudur (video below) amd also some verses.of it are included in “Ramunaja Gattiyam”
Thus Swamy Ramanuja spent most of his life time in debating with leaders who belong to such Philosophies Those that accept Vedas and interpret them wrongly and those that don’t and rectify them into the right Vedic path and establish the Visishtadvaita philosophy that was built by Azhvars and Purvacharyas.
When the whole world, surrounded by oceans was engulfed by the darkness of Kalipurusha, Sri Ramanuja appeared and with the shining praamaaNams (proofs) from four Vedas, dispelled the darkness immediately. Had he not done that, the world would not have known the truth of Sarva Swamithvam of Sriman Narayanan for all Jeevathmas.

When Swamy Ramanuja took Sanyasam, announced “I renounce everything apart from Mudaliyandan” thrice,Such was the intimacy between Swamy Ramanujar and Mudaliandan.
Kooratazhwan says that he has only “Atma sambandham”with Swamy Ramanujar whereas Mudaliyandan has both “deha sambandham” and “atma sambandham”.
When Thirukosthiyur Nambi asked Swamy Ramanuja to come with Thandam & Pavithram, Swami went along with Mudaliyandan & Koorthazhwan, when questioned Swamy pointed Mudaliyandan as “Thridandam” & Koorthazhwan as “Pavitram”
Swamy Ramanuja went on Vijaya Yatra then handed over the nirvaham of Periya Koil/Sri Rangam to Swamy Dasarathy,, who very wonderfully discharged the duties just like“SenaiMudaliyar/Viswakshenar” hence got the title “Mudaliyandan”
Went as servant-maid to Aathuzhai’s house – for more than 6 months (daughter of Sri Periya Nambi) acharyan to Swami Ramanuja on just a gesture from Ramanujar
Throughout the charitram of Swamy Ramanuja, we could find Swamy Ramanuja separated from Azhwan for a period of more than 12 years (during stay at Melkote), but Mudaliyandan always accompanied Swami throughout.
As swamy Ramanuja entered into Karnataka, they were some people who did not allow entry into the place, and were very adamant to listen, then swami asked Mudaliyanan to wash his feet in a pond, which served as the water resource to the whole village, next day the people who opposed swamy, came surrendered into the lotus feet of Ramanujar, reason was the sripadha theertham of swamy Mudaliyandan changed the buddhi of the locals, who turned into Sadhvika gunam from Rajas & Tamas.
This place is named as Saligramam ,(Mithuna Saligramam) by Swamy Ramanuja near Melkote — a small temple is here,We can find Swamy Ramanuja’s Thiruvadi Chuvadugal,/Foot prints here even today Vaduga nambi descendents still live here.
Swamy Ramanuja won over 1000 jains at a time, behind a screen, at Thondanoor (mandaya district, Karnataka) establishing Vishishtadvaitha, then Mudaliyandan spoke/composed 5 paragraphs stotram “Dhaati Panchakam” praising the victory of Ramanuja over shunya mathas, this is considered as a wonderful rendition as still practiced in Sri Perumbudur and other temples all over South India
On Instructions of Swami Ramanujar – Mudaliyandan established 5 Narayana temples throughout Karnataka hence got the title “Pancha Narayana Pratishtapanacharyar”
It is also to be noted, that the archa thirumeni (Than Ugandha thirumeni) Of bhagavath Ramanujar in Sri Perumbudur was installed by Kandhadai Aandan (son of Sri Mudaliyandan) on Guru Pushyam and even today 3 days utsavams are celebrated concluding with Guru Pushaym (thai pushsyam) for the same @ Sri Perumbudur.

This Thiruvadirai/Ardra day in the month of Chitirai is a day of greater importance than even the days in which the Azhvars incarnated. The reason being, it is the day in which Sri Ramanuja was born to save the seven worlds.
We are all aware of Swamy Ramanuja and swamy’s contributions towards our sampradhyam. Not only Swami was a saint, but was a teacher, author, social reformer, a sada acharyan and lived the way, as it has to be. Swamy is a Yuga Purusha, whom Time and Mankind cannot forget. incarnated and achieved many things, which even Sriman Narayanan could not achieve in his Vibhava Avatharams like Rama & Krishna.

People practicing Karma,Bakthi yoga etc get qualified to get the grace of the Lord, People who have no such attributes are dependent only on your grace Oh Ramanuja! If you too behave like Lord where else we can go? In these verses, it is stated, that the Emperumaan discriminates by giving Moksha to selected few who are qualified, for the same, But Ramanujar has no such discrimination, his grace is universal and flows out to all the needy, such is his compassion, unmindful of eligibility & even though we are unqualified & underserving, Swami Ramanuja out of his extreme compassion redeems us, Thus stands at higher level than the Sriman Narayanan,(when it comes to compassion/grace)

Due to atrocities of Kirumi Kanda Chozan Swamy Ramanuja had to migrate to Hoysala Kingdom in Mysore.. Swami chose to settle down in Melkote, Mandya District in Mysore and spread Sr Vaishnavism by inducting King Vishnu Vardan into Srivaishnavam by teaching him the truth abt Sriman Narayanan as Parabramham.and all.chit and achit are subservient to Paramathma.
Restored Moolavar who was buried under the sand dunes, and dedicating “Orunayagamai…….. ஒரு நாயகமாய்..” pasuram of Thiruvaimozhi.
When Swami wanted to conduct utsavams for Selva Narayana Swamy..he came to know abt the utsava moorthy (vigraham) being taken away by Delhi Sultan (who had looted many Hindu temples)…Thus travelled to Delhi from Mysore by walk at the age of 82…to bring that utsava moorthy called ‘Rama Priyan’
Ramanuja approached the Sultan king briefing him of the situation at the temple. The Sultan asked Ramanuja to identify his idol amongst the many that the king had taken custody of. Unable to find his Lord, Ramanuja spent the night there. The next morning he came to know that Lord’s idol is with the daughter of Sultan in her Palace Chamber….Swamy went to the entrance and called out..’Oh bhagvan adiyen came here on on your call…Now I am calling you…pl come to me, we need you…to comeback tp your temple in Thiru Narayana Puram…pl come my dear child…My Chella Pillai…’Varay En Selva Pillay’…Swamy called out just like a Father who is expressing his fatherly affection on his infant son… The Unbelievable happened….
Bhagvan got down from the Princess decorated bed and walked slowly while his anklets made sweet sound and his crown dazzled. He walked and sat down in the Lap of Swami just like a small kid would sit on his father’s lap. And with tears , Swami Ramanuja hugged and cuddled the LORD
Thus processional deity, Ramanuja brought the Lord back to Thiru Narayanapuram.Since Swamy called with name “Selva Pillay’ from that moment ..bhagvan changed his Name from “Rama Priyan’ To “Selva Pillay’…🙏 Swami commanded the…….. Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana to construct five wonderful Narayana Temples in Karnataka under the guidance of Sri Mudaliyandan. .special mention is to be made about 5 Narayana Temples
Thus Hoysalas started a new style of architecture on the basis of Sri Ramanujacharya’s preaching. And Swamy Mudaliyandan came to be known as “Pancha Narayana Kshetra Pratishtapanachariar”. Bhagavat Ramanuja made sure that Melkote has the pride of place in the Sri Vaishnava Sampradayam and got the name ‘Gyana Mandapam”
When Sri Ramanujacharya was residing at Thondanur, the farmers of surrounding areas requested him to help them overcome the drought situation. So, he went near the natural hills and placed his Tridhanda across the small water flow in Thondanur. With the help of his devotees, he built a bridge and constructed a huge lake. He named it as Tirumalasagara. Even today, Thondanur lake water is used for drinking and agriculture.
Swami was the first revolutionist who gave certain rights to Harijan and gave them a title “Thiru kulatthar”..🙏 Thus It is impossible to.enumerate the Kainkaryams this Maha Purusha has done.. Concluding with Sri Manavala Mamunigal.Verses

This sloka recited by every Sri Vaishnava at the end of sandhya vandanam, The order followed seems to be south north east west. though it was supposed to be recited turning round oneself and offering namaskaram in the direction These lines starting with ‘Sri Rangamangala Nidhim” with one slokam each for koil, (Sri Rangam) tirumalai, (Tirumala) Perumal koil (Kancheepuram) andThirunarayanapuram (Melkote)
The above sloka is chanted to remember and offer prayers to the deities of four Major Temples that Bhagavat Ramanuja was associated with, in many capacities. Each temple and Archavatara deity played a crucial role in the upbringing, shaping the role and life of Bhagavat Ramanuja. Swamy Ramanuja did uninterrupted Kainkaryams to all these Emperumaan’s of all these 4 Kshetras….Let us Cherish Each one of them

I bow unto the wish granting Parijatham tree shining on the top of the Hasthi sailam – Elephant-like hillock used by Brahma to perform the Yajnam , which preceded BhagavAn’s incarnation as VaradarAjA Ramanuja is closely connected with Varadaraja Perumal. It was through Tirukacchi nambi with whom the Lord talked that he found answers to six questions pertaining to Vishistadvaitha.
After the failed attempt by Yadhava Prakasar, Swami Ramanuja returns back to Kanchi, & requests Thirukkacchi Nambi to clear certain doubts on truths, where in 6 words were uttered by Lord Varadhar of Kanchi to be communicated to Swami Ramanuja by Thirukkachi Nambi, they are
1.Ahameva paramtatvam अहमेव परं तत्त्वम् அஹமேவ பரம் தத்துவம்
(I am the supreme truth)
2.Darsanam Bhedha eve acha.
दर्शनं भेद एव च தர்சநம் பேத ஏவச
(Sri Vaishnava darshanam s based on thatva thryam – chit,achit & Eeswara)
3.Upayesu Prapattissyat
उपायेषु प्रपत्ति: स्यात् உபாயேஷு ப்ரபத்திஸ்யாத் (By faith & surrender shall men reach me their salvation)
4.Antima Smriti Varjanam अन्तिमस्मृति वर्जनम् அந்திம ஸ்ம்ருதி வர்ஜநம் (Thought of me at the time of death is not compulsory)
5.Dehasvasane Mukthisyaat देहावसाने मुक्ति: स्यात् ஹாவஸாகே முக்திஸ் யாத் (Release from bondage follows immediately on death of body)
6.Poornacharya Samashraya पूर्णाचार्य समाश्रय பூர்ணாசார்ய ஸ்மாச்ரய (Choose Mahapurna as your acharya)
Swamy Ramanuja’s doubts were clarified through Thirukacchi Nambigal. This Lord with Perundevi in the guise of a fowler couple transported/saved Ramanuja from the Vindhyas to Kanchipuram. Ramanuja did ‘Theertha kainkaryam’ (fetching water for daily puja) for Varadarja and again it was Varadaraja who gave Ramanuja to Srirangam for Kainkaryams.
This sacrifice of Lord Varadaraja earned the Kanchi temple the name ” Thyaga Mandapam” So Varadaraja is The Bestower of ‘Boons’. And it was in Varadha Raja Perumal Thirukkulam/Temple tank “Anantha Saras”.. Swami Ramanuja accepted “Sanyasa Ashrama” and got the title “Yathi Rajan” from Varadha Rajan himself.

Long Live Ramanuja, who surrendered to the Lotus Feet of Varadharaja of Hasthigiri.
I bow unto the abode of mercy , the auspicious jewel of Srirangam , Sri RanganAthA . Just as Lord Sriman Narayana enjoys all facilities and luxury in Paramapadam, Lord Ranganatha also thrives in Bhoga at Thiruvarangam listening to Ekantha Veena in and all 12 azhvars had sung in praise of this “Rajan’ …..”Ranga Rajan” and hence Sri Rangam is known by the name Bhoga Mandapam. Sriman Narayana is the supreme Lord of the Universe, who came into this earth as Lord Ranganatha in Sri Rangam which is known as “Bhooloka Vaikuntam”
The Lord of Sri Rangam is “Rangarajan” and our Swamy is “Yathirajan” both are kings respectively. Lord Ranganatha is the supreme lord of Leela Vibuthi & Nithya Vibuthi, and the only supreme who has the power to grant moksha to any soul, and he passed/granted on this “power” only to Swamy Ramanauja giving him the title “Udayavar” meaning one who owns the possession of both these vibuthis and greatness of this Swamy is such that, any one who surrenders to this acharyan’s lotus feet,is sure to be cleansed of their sins and will be granted moksha. (It may be noted that Kanchi Varadha Raja has reinforced this authority by advising Thirukkachi Nambigal, that moksham for Nambigal is due to Ramanuja sammandham)
Administrative Kainkaryam; – The Koyil Olugu here enumerates in great detail a series of reforms introduced by Ramanuja. The thoroughness, efficiency and zeal with which Ramanuja carried out the reforms cannot but evoke the admiration of even modern administrators.
Swamy made the fullest use of his talented disciples whose number was now increasing day by day.. and completely revised the arrangements for the conduct of the Adhyayana Utsava and introduced an improved method for the recital of the Tamil Prabandha on the occasion.of Adyayana Utsavams
With the headship of the math at Sri Ranganatha swamy Temple, Srirangam. ,Swamy realised that temples are not merely a centre of worship, but also a place for social activities. He wanted the temple to work for the comprehensive development of society, not for the development of a few. He organised the temple with many administrative divisions like ritual kitchen, goshala, land and revenue, and devotee’s grievances departments.
Ramanujacharya ordered temple officials including priests to maintain discipline in timings and transparency in the accounts. He adopted all the management techniques at theTemple in Srirangam and also installed a sand-clock for time Management. Swamy also had written down the bylaw of these temples in the name of Udayavar Niyamanappadi. Even after 1,000 years, these institutions follow the principles of Sri Ramanujacharya. When Sri Vaishnavism became popular under Sri Ramanujacharya.
In a nutshell தென்னரங்கர் செல்வம் முற்றும் திருத்திவைத்தான் வாழியே-Thennarangar selvam muRRum thiruththivaiththAn vAzhiyE – It was Ramanuja who took great efforts to revive Sri Rangam temple. Sri Ramanujacharya was a great social reformer who introduced various changes for the upliftment & betterment of the society as a whole. Due to all these efforts, he is considered as great Acharya and is remembered even after a thousand years.

1.Vedartha Sangraham (the resume of Vedantha) 2.Shree Bashyam (Commentary on Bramha Sutras 3.Vedantha Saara ( essence of Vedantha) an appendix to Sri Bashya 4.Vedantha Deepa (the light of Vedantha) another appendix to Sri Bashya 5 Gita Bashya (his commentary of Bhagavad Geetha) 6.Nithya Grandham (About day to day activities to be performed by Sri Vaishnavas) 7.Saranagathi Gadyam (A dialogue between Ramanuja Perumal & Piratti where Swami petitions Sri Lakshmi to recommend to the lord to give him grace, both Perumal & Piratti accept Swami’s surrender) 8..Sri Ranga Gadyam (a Prayer of surrender to the feet of Sri Ranganatha) 9.Vaikunta Gadyam (describing in detail Sri Vaikutam & recommending meditating it)
Swamy Ramanuja lived full 120 yrs …that is a full Vimoshatthari Dasa Period…but why did Swami authored only 9 works…while Adhi Sankara lived 32 yrs, but did many works…?This a General Question asked by Commoners.
The Vedas are the very breath of the Supreme Brahman and their import has reached posterity through the revelations experienced by sages and rishis . Time and again, the Lord assumes the form of preceptors to propagate this Vedic tradition which is also known as Sanatana Dharma.
Swamy Ramanuja Lived during the period where society was occupied by Pashandas Charvakas, bouddhas, Jains and Mayavadhis. These Philosophies are “Nasthikavadhis” means those who don’t accept Vedas as authoritative and some were also to give wrong interpretation to Vedas.” Dhaati Panchakam” answers the above question gracefully… In Thondanoor of Mandya District, Mysore some 1000 years.ago During the Period when Swami Ramanuja left Sri Rangam and migrated to Mysore……………
Around 12,000 Jainis came for an argument with Swami Ramanuja. He got a curtain drawn before him, took his real form of a thousand-headed serpent (Adisesha) and answered all their questions simultaneously with his 1000 hoods to prove that Vishistadvaitam Siddantham and the concept of Thatva Thryam (Sriman Narayana is the Paramathma, Chit and Achit are his sesha boothas./ subservient)
After witnessing this, Swami Mudaliandan rendered Dhaati Panchakam in praise of Ramanuja’s victory over other philosophies. Even today we can see ‘Dhaati Panchakam’ sloka carved on a stone at Padmavathi temple in Sravanabelahola of Mandya District, Mysore Region.
Dhaati Panchakam (which was rendered by Sri Mudaliandan at Thondanur Ref Nambi Koil Nithyanusandhanam] has been celebrated by our poorvacharyas and has been included as part of Srivaishnava Nithyanusandhanam. Mudaliyandan was the dearest nephew and foremost of Ramanuja’s sishyas. The Thaniyan (a vandanam) or an invocatory verse which is first recited before the Stotra..Speaks about the Greatness of its Author.
I offer Vandanam to Swamy Dasarathi /Mudaliyandan.who composed the glorious work of 5 Stotras called ‘Dhaati Panchakam’ on Benevolent Aacharya Swami Ramanuja at Bhaktha Nagar (Thondanoor) Dhaati means “Attack’ Panchakam means 5 Shlokas..As the name shows it is made of five stotras. The word Dhaati means “attacking” – as this work shows the attack that Ramanuja carried over the other philosophies that were widespread at that time, it is an appropriate name for it..

Essence of Dhaati Panchakam which speaks aloud..How Ramanuja won over these Shunya Mathas thru his Sri Sukthis. Ramanuja removed the Pashandas completely – like a wild forest fire going through a forest. Ramanuja fell like a “ThunderBolt ” /Vajrayudham .. (Here Swami’s Thridhandam is compared to Vajradhandam) on Charvakas Mountains
Ramanuja rose like a “Sun” (Ramanuja Divakarha) to dispel the darkness called Baudha Philosophy Ramanuja was like the Garuda whose very shadow was sufficient to destroy the serpents called “Mayavadhis” (who state that everything is false or an illusion)
Ramanuja thus established the victory flag of Srivaishnava Sampradhayam in that most divine of places – Srirangam. Ramanuja is praised as “Srirangesha Jayadvaja” means the Victory Flag of Sri Ranganatha.
Pashandas were like a great ocean. It was during the time that they were active that Swami Ramanuja appeared like the Badaba fire. (Badaba is the name of a female horse. Puranas mention that there is a female horse in the middle of the ocean; that it has a fire on its face that never goes out; it is this fire that absorbs the excess water coming into the ocean and prevents it from breaching its shores; and that during the pralays it is this fire that comes out and destroys the worlds)
Ramanuja controlled the ocean of pashandas like the Badaba fire. He exhibits the quality of fire to both create and destroy – he sheds light on the right path to the devotees while he also acts like a wildfire in destroying the other sampradhayams.Thus, Ramanuja also showed the path to liberation Shri Vishnu Loka Mani Mandapa Margadayee.
Dhaati Panchakam is recited during Avathsra Dhina Utsavams in Sri Perumbudur (video below) and also some verses.of it are included in “Ramunaja Gattiyam”
Thus Swamy Ramanuja spent most of his life time in debating with leaders who belong to such Philosophies Those that accept Vedas and interpret them wrongly and those that don’t and rectify them into the right Vedic path and establish the Visishtadvaita philosophy that was built by Azhvars and Purvacharyas.
When the whole world, surrounded by oceans was engulfed by the darkness of Kalipurusha, Sri Ramanuja appeared and with the shining praamaaNams (proofs) from four Vedas, dispelled the darkness immediately. Had he not done that, the world would not have known the truth of Sarva Swamithvam of Sriman Narayanan for all Jeevathmas.

Every year on this 6th day of Ramanuja Avathara Dhina Utsavams….”Vellai Satthupadi Vaibhavam ” is celebrated in Sri Perumbudur.
Turning back to Swami’s Charitram…………………………………………. We see the King Kirumi Kanda Chozan who was an ardent shaivaite, and strong advocator of Shaivism and was intolerant of Vaishnavism, which was also practiced by the people under his rule. To demonstrate his aversion towards Vaishnavism, he was said to take the extreme action of throwing the Govindaraja Perumal idol into the sea upon his clash with the priests in Vaishnava Temple in Chitambaram.
Due to this King’s atrocities Acharaya Ramanuja, (wearing a White Veshti/Dhoti to distract the attention of the King’s soldiers who are following ) instead of saffron clothes usually which a Sanyasi wears) had to migrate to Mysore. and Swamy Koorathazhvan dressed like Ramanujar wearing Saffron robes reaches the Chozan’s court. refutes the king’s claim of “Rudhran being the Supreme”, establishes of SrIman Naraynan”s Parathvam/ supremacy and in the end gives up his own dharshanam (eyes) to protect SrI Vaishnava dharshanam (sampradayam). This day Utsavam also known as ‘Kooresa Vijayam’ is celebrated to recollect this incident from Swami”s CharitramSwamy Ramanuja who is a Sanyasi, who wears a Kaashayam (saffron clothes) on this day wears a White Veshti/Dhoti and ascends a horse and Swamy Koorthazhvan is seen wearing a Kaashaya Vastram (saffron clothes)carried in a palanquin
Though this incident which happened 1000 plus years ago…and is also painful, still it is Celebrated this as a “Utsavam” as this Day, we would see….
Swamy Ramanuja will be adorning Vellai Veshti/Dhothi only once in a year on this occasion and will look more beautiful, & graceful, we can have swamy’s darshan in this Vellai Satthupadi, only once in a year……and as “Ramanuja Dasas” we are always looking forward occassions to

We are celebrating Swamy Ramanuja utsavams , bhakti is filled in the air, everyone senses a feeling of joy, only physical body is there with everyone, and their respective souls in Sri Perumbudur,( avataraa sthalam).
The mere uttering of the month Chittrai,Thiruvadhirai brings happiness in the hearts of devotees, well it is the thirunakshatram of our beloved Jagat Acharyian Swamy Ramanuja. well all of us know about Swami Ramanuja’s history, his kainkaryams and the mahat upakaram he has done to our sampradayam, so it is called “Emperumaanar Darsanam” by our Namperumal itself.

Swamy Ramanuja is considered Sakala Vidha Bandhu and Wealth by Aacharyas….Because of the Mercy Shown by this Maha Purusha.. that makes him even greater than Sriman Narayanan🙏
The above Shloka by our Poorvacharyas, brings out how Swami”s birth leads us to vaikuntam, and he is called “Vishnu Loka Mani Mandapa Marga Dhayee” (one who shows way to Sri Vainkuntum) in Dhaati Panchakam.
Meaning of the above Shloka.
If Swami Ramanuja had not been born,(if this 4 lettered word RA MA NU JA had not been born, we would not have got that 4 lettered word NA RA YA NA),then what is the status of us in this world? The answer is simple we will all be mere animals
Let us see how
The animals and human both are born from male female union respectively ,animals and human struggle for existence in their own ways. Both animals and humans according to nature, produce off springs. Both of them are affected by the factors of hunger, age, disease and ultimately death.
Then where is the difference? The Gyanam or Knowledge is the one factor which distinguishes human from animal, we all have Gynanam of the supreme being (Sreeman Narayana) …..but animals do not, posses this gynanam “Gyanena heenaha: pasubeehe: Samanaha:” goes a saying, those who dont have knowledge are equal to animals, if we still remain human beings, it is the mahat upakaram of Swami Ramanuja who out of compassion and grace towards human race guided unto the path of “Sharanagathi”.

The grace of Swami Ramanuja has been clearly brought out by our Varavara Muni in his Aarathi Prabandham, (it is a marvelous work of 60 slokas, each one is a gem, and in a class of its own, mere words are not enough to talk or praise about it) In which Swami Manavala Mamunigal prays and surrenders to the lotus feet of Swamy Ramanuja, to take him to the eternal abode of Sriman Narayana.
One can wonder Swami Manavala Mamunigal could have prayed to Sriman Narayana to take himself to Sri Vaikuntam, or to the Thayar Mahalakshmi or any acharyas before Swami Ramanuja, or even to his asmad acharyan Swamy Thiruvaimozhipillai , but instead he chose only Swami Ramanuja, Why? this is clearly explained by Swami Manavala Mamuniga lin the 26th sloka of Aarthi Prabandham.

“Thennarangar thamakkamo? dheviyar gatkamo? Senaiyar kon mudhalana sooriyargarkamo? Manniya seer maran, arul mari thammakaomo? Mattrumula desikargal thangalukku amo? Ennoduya Pizhai Porukka Yavarukky Mudiyum? Ethiraja unakku andri yan oruvarukku aagen Un Arulale ennaku ruchi thannaiyum undakki Oli visumbil adiyenai orupadutthu virandhey.”
Rough Translation
Is it possible for the Lord of Sri Rangam? Is it possible for his Dhevis(Pirattis) ? Is it possible for commander in chief Viswaksenar/Senai Mudhaliyar? Is it possible for our dear Maran( Nammalvar) or Arul Mari(Thirumangai Alvar)? Is it possible for any other acharyas? (right from Sri Nadha Muni) Who will bear/tolerate with me and forgive my sins?(Except you none)) Ethiraja, I surrender only to your Lotus Feet

Swamy Ramanuja is the acharya who’s thiru avataram in this world was for our spiritual upliftment through the doctrine of Sharanagathi leading us into the path of Mukthi.
Swami’s Unique Position
1.The mention of the word “Swamy” refers only to our Ramanujan, just like…. ” Koil” means Sri Rangam “Perumal” means Periya Perumal “Azhvar” means “Nammazhvar” “Jayanthi” means only “Sri Jayanthi” (Sri Krishna Jayanthi) Similarly, Ramanuja is the one and only to be revered with the title “Swamy” ….
“Swamy” stands for Ramanuja alone. For others we must add their name also to identify them..like wise……
“Jeeyar” means only our “Periya Jeeyar Swamy Manavala Mamunigal”
2.Swamy Ramanuja is the only acharya to whom the Lord Ranganatha submitted his Vibuthis (Nithya Vibuthi & Leela Vibuthi) through which the power of granting moksham…Hence the title “Udayavar”
3.Swamy Ramanuja was considered as the only utharaka Acharya (one who uplifts the masses) by even the acharyas who preceded him. he was the only acharya whom Nammalvar acknowledged and spoke about in Thiruvaimozhi through the verses “Poliga Poliga…

4.Swamy Ramanuja was the only acharya, whose vigraham came up as “Bavishyath Acharyan” even before Swami Ramanuja was born, and held by all our poorvacharyas in their Thiruvaradhanam(worship).
Ramanuja was the first to document in as many terms the Visishtadvaita sampradaya. The works of all other acharyas followed his footsteps.
6.The concept of Sarangati as developed by alvars, Nathamunigal and Alavandar was also documented by Ramanuja both in text and practice.
7.All Acharyas before Ramanuja were called “Anuvritti Prasanna Acharyas'” i.e. one who imparts knowledge to sishyas who have passed all the criteria in terms of “Basic knowledge, Anushtana, Perseverance” etc. But Swamy Ramanuja broke this chain (oraNvazhi) and introduced a simple criterion – ” Desire to know”. (This was a boon to people like us) Hence he was the first one to be hailed as “Kripa Matra prasanna Acharya.”
“KripA mAtra prasanna Acharyas” are, driven solely by the motive of mercy towards misguided mankind. They scrupulously adhere to the dictum “KripayA nisspruhO vadEt” (The Acharya should impart instruction to the disciple without expecting anything in return).
8.Ramanuja is the only acharya who was referred with respect /followed by other schools in vaishnavism like chaitanya, Vallabhacharya, & Swamy Narayan .
9.All the acharyas after Ramanuja have pointed their fingers and sung in praise of Ramanuja only. Even though acharyas like Swamy Pillai Lokacharya, Swamy Desikan and Swamy Manavala Mamunigal are much later in time to Ramanuja, and have their own acharya, still they refer to Swamy Ramanuja only as the ultimate acharya.
10.Thus our “Darsanam ” is till today called as “Emperumanar darsanam” or “Ramanuja Darsanam”.🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sri Manavala Mamunigal in his Aarthi Prabandham states
“Nandha nargathhu aazhundhamai vendidal naaneelatheer en
thathaiyaan ethirajanai nannum endrum ava andhadhi thannai anusandhiyum avan thondrarudan chindakulam keda cherntheedum muthee pin siddhikkume”
“Oh people of this earth! If you want to get relieved from this narakam/hell of samsara. You should take refugee in thiruvadi of my father Ethirajan, Chant (his)Ramanuja Nootriandadhi (which is gayathri for prapannas) in which each pasruam contains his nama which forms a favorable/cordial factor for our destination & always remain in the satsangh of his adiyars, through all this moksham is easily accessible & confirmed

Let us surrender to Swamy Ramanuja’s Padhuka and take pride in identifying ourselves as “Ramanuja Dasas”
